University ratings[edit]

(I'm posting this to all articles on UK universities as so far discussion hasn't really taken off on Wikipedia:WikiProject Universities.)

There needs to be a broader convention about which university rankings to include in articles. Currently it seems most pages are listing primarily those that show the institution at its best (or worst in a few cases). See Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Universities#University ratings. Fair use rationale for Image:Trinity college camarthen.JPG[edit]

Image:Trinity college camarthen.JPG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Picton Hall[edit]

When I studied at Trinity I lived in Picton Hall on Picton Terrace (not on the main Trinity Campus). This was in fact three Georgian houses, two of which were joined. The hall was for male students only. Most, if not all the students there ate their meals on campus in the canteen. I lived there between 1991 and 1992 and at that time the hall was totally unsupervised by a warden! I understand the building is no longer part of the University which doesn't surprise me as it was in very poor repair. It would be good to add some information about the hall to the Trinity University College article but perhaps someone else could provide more details about when the hall was in use?

I've now added some information on Picton Hall, but could still really do with more detail. Kammer06 (talk) 08:16, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Trinity Saint David[edit]

Please help out, and contribute to a new article on the University of Wales, Trinity Saint David, in my userspace - User:Twrist/Trinity_Saint_David. Hopefully we can have a really good comprehensive article ready to go for the launch of the new institution. Cheers! Twrist (talk) 19:26, 25 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hostels in past tense[edit]

Why are many of the structures such as the Tower and Non Hostel described in the past tense when there is no mention of their destruction?

I stayed in both Non and Dewi in 1984 even though one was all women and the other all men. Neither seemed dedicated to first year students at that time.

And most importantly, why was I never told there was a bar at the top of the tower? Was the beer any better at the top than at the bottom?
