Barker's Run?[edit]

Theme Song[edit]

"Stop Gap" is universally recognized to be a theme song used on T or C. However, the author of the music is variously Robert Sharples or Robert Standish or Wilfred Burns. This conundrum should be resolved. --72.75.91.146 03:30, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Chromakey[edit]

I believe Truth or Consequences was the first use of chroma keying on TV (a.k.a. "green screen" although the original technology was keyed to blue). While chroma key had been in use in movies special effects for decades, use on TV was utterly new at the time. I remember an episode c. 1969-71 in which Bob Barker had to explain what was going on. The bit was something like this:

1) Show woman in front of blue screen. Then close the curtain.

2) Bring out 4 servicemen who had just started their leave. There's a monitor on stage "so they can see themselves on TV."

3) The woman is chroma keyed into the picture on the monitor, appearing beside the serviceman on the end. She is, of course, his wife whom he has not seen in months.

4) Bob then engages the servicemen in conversation. Eventually, the man on the end notices the image of his wife in the monitor... and starts looking for her. (I remember he even groped the air where she was "standing.")

5) Heartwarming reunion.

It was a typical bit for the show... but I remember clearly Bob's explaining the technology. Unfortunately, I can't find a decent link to a reference. Someone will have to watch all those episodes! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.237.236.15 (talk) 18:24, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
