potential article split

[edit]

I am considering splitting this article in two and starting a new article at USS Arlington (AGMR-2) which would give the history of the ship and it's stats, etc, starting after it's conversion in 1965. I'm wondering what other people think about splitting this article. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 17:25, 21 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mistaken identity

[edit]

Possible severe inaccuracy: Wiki article says ship was sold for scrap in 1976; youtube documentary shows Ship in active operation WAY PAST 1976

The Youtube documentary of interest is titled 'Harrier Jump Jet'. The associated URL is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzFr_w1aKqw . At Time Index 8:37 -through- Time Index 12:01 , the USS Saipan appears to be performing active Battle Maneuvers (circa 1995). In the Youtube documentary, the USS Saipan is shown launching Harrier Jump Jets -and- Amphibious Assault vehicles. Your Wikipedia article states that the USS Saipan was SOLD FOR SCRAP in the year 1976. Obviously, the Ship was operating WAY PAST the year 1976. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 23.226.85.252 (talk) 19:37, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong ship. USS Saipan (LHA-2) is the one in the video. - BilCat (talk) 19:41, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
