Merge with Krav Maga?[edit]

Not sure if UKM is different enough to be presented as its own thing, rather than a variant of Krav Maga. Also, no traffic here since 2014, so low activity. Maybe it could be merged into that page? Ketil (talk) 12:51, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... Hi, I created this page myself (have no affiliation whatsoever with the organisation). UKM is indeed a variation of Krav Maga that is different from the traditional in that it has evolved to be more applicable to real life scenarios in the street. It is quite new and there are a few places teaching it. In any case it keeps evolving and that is what I think makes it more relevant - the fact that it is growing as an alternative to the traditional 'schools' - not only for the 'average joe/jane' but also for people working in security. In my view it is not an organisation, it is a martial art of sorts (just like Krav is) --JudithM79 (talk) 19:35, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because...:

1) A bit more time is needed to gather, verify and organise all the references showing notable coverage.

2) Although founded quite recently, Urban Krav Maga as an organisation is present worldwide. It is also a well established and respected organisation and system in the Martial Arts industry. Nonetheless, verifiable information from reliable sources that would provide evidence of notability according to Wikipedia's standards is not always readily available. More time is needed to gather, verify and organise all the references.

3) Being a Martial Art and a fighting system born in the Youtube era, most of Urban Krav Maga coverage exists as video documentaries and tutorials (by reliable thirds parties) which as far as I understand Wikipedia's rules are not accepted as references/sources.

4) So far, 6 serious references (more are coming) have been cited for Urban Krav Maga which was founded in 2008 (that's 1 reference per year). As a comparison, only 19 references are used for "Krav Maga" which was officially founded in 1955 (that's 0.3 references per year).

5) A section explaining the technical particularities which makes Urban Krav Maga a fighting system in its own right will be added soon, enough time permitting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PDMBon (talkcontribs) 21:24, 26 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
