Term "vault"

[edit]

Doesn't the word "vault" have a more general meaning in computer science than just this single product???? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Aebarschall (talkcontribs) .

Yes, This article is about Vault, the revision control system. Is there anywhere that references Vault as a CS term? McKay 06:13, 17 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

POV article

[edit]

The article currently currently appears to claim that Vault is an inherently superior replacement to VSS (no source cited), because VSS doesn't support atomic commits (no source cited) as a result of using Microsoft's SQL database (no source cited). Please adhere to the neutral point of view and attribution policies; see also describing points of view.

I haven't read the "citations" (external links), but they were added by a different user from who wrote the article, just to establish notability. The notability policy, however, requires multiple and reliable sources. I don't know who Eric Sink is, but blogs in general are not considered reliable sources. -- intgr 18:20, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On notability: correct, Blogs in general aren't considered reliable sources, but there are numerous exceptions to the rule. For Example. I'd personally put anything on Joel on Software a reliable source, because he's an established writer and journalist, and the blog fits the criteria of a reliable source. Eric Sink's is somewhat the same, but on second look, it appears as if Eric Sink works for sourcegear, and therefore isn't independant, so the issue is moot.
I am having trouble finding more sources, how do we feel about microsoft MVPs? [1] Maybe this article should go the way of the frindle. McKay 14:14, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, also note that I'm totally willing to clean up the article, but I'd hate to do that if the article isn't notable enough to keep around. McKay 14:18, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I've done a lot of searching, and I think I'm willing to support a deletion or a merge at this point. We could avoid an AfD and merge to List of revision control software? McKay 14:23, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree. -- intgr #%@! 08:59, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
