DECA[edit]

I have a real problem with the inclusion of the DECA vice president. As a DECA alumni myself, i do not feel its "notable resident" worthy. Although a great accomplishment, i feel it should be included with a DECA page, or if at very least, possibly the Verona High School page.

Also, the fact that a minor listed on wiki troubles me as well...

New York Radio Edit[edit]

Thanks for cleaning up my edits, but i feel that the New York Radio should be linked to the template. it gives an overview of the radio stations in the area...what do you think?

  • I wasn't sure if that was your intention. We haven't done it elsewhere, but that's not a reason to impose that here. I would have preferred to link to an article, rather than a template, but I don't see an article that covers the area. Why don't you try the template and see how it flows. Township of the Borough of Verona[edit]

That doesn't make any sense. It is either a Township or a Borough, not both. They are legally seperate. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 17:09, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
please see Township_(United_States)#Civil_township, the very last paragraph to help explain it better. Legally, Verona is a township, however, due to senseless funding guidelines back in the 70s resulting in towns changing to townships, but still keeping their boro or village name in it. It isn't stating that the town has two forms of government. its just a naming thing. There is no indication that this is still in effect. The Municipal Code is titled Code of the Township of Verona, New Jersey. The contents of the code sometimes uses township and sometimes uses borough, indicating that Verona has changed its form of government at some point in its history. Everything on the official web site shows "Township of Verona". "Borough of Verona" does not appear. See [1]. That is the fire department web site, and it is unclear when that statement was written. The article seems to have originally been written in 1984 (bottom of the page), but there have been various updates. That statement could date to 1984. I believe its just for simplicity sakes. I know the guy who works on the offical website does not work for the town. He just volunteers his time and experience. I also know he hasn't lived in Verona long enough to know about the name. As i said before, i have gotten P.O.s from the town as of a few months ago which had "...of borough of...", and i recall seeing paychecks from them as well. Unfortunately i do not have them on me to back up as a source. I would to add my two cents here if I may, towns in New Jersey can use be incorporated as a Township and Village or a Town and a Borough, A good example is South Orange, New Jersey which is incorporated as the Township of the Village of South Orange, Previously they were simply a Village and in fact their Government body is the Village Trustees but legally they are both a Township and a Village. There are a whole series of municipalities, mostly in Essex County, that changed over to the Township (New Jersey) type of government in the 1970s. In most cases, the change was rather superficial, consisting primarily of insertion of the word "Township" into their official title, while remaining vestiges of their earlier type of government. I believe the benefit that you are seeking is the fact that towns which are designated as both a Township and a Village and/or a Town and a Borough receive funding from the state based on their designation so if a town like South Orange is a Township and a Village they receive funding based on being a Township and a Village designation. In the 1970s, a federal program offered an aid program that only went to townships. Several boroughs, towns and villages (mostly in Essex County) changed to townships in order to be eligible for this funding. They weren't both village AND township or borough AND township, they became townships. Even when they changed over, they still have retained terms such as "Borough Council" or "Village Trustees" for their government, which would make it appear that they are both. The fact that Verona and South Orange have used formal names that include both the old and new type of government also does not make them both. Alansohn 11:19, 29 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

After attempting to verify the above information, i cannot find ANY source that mentions that Connie was from Verona. everything says that she is from Newark. can you please verify this information with a source? Soccera2g 19:10, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
