Cast section and comment on refs

[edit]

Mictateur, this draft looks good. One area that caught my attention is the Cast section which at present is a bullet list and seems incomplete. MOS:USEPROSE is a guideline but still is a good idea. As I'm not familiar with the film I left this area as is. Related to this is the order of the names. For example, the second item is for Jonas who is described as "Darius' brother". I'm thinking, who is Darius? It turns out that he's two more bullets down in the list. If practical, I would reorder the list so that new characters are introduced in the context of characters already known to the reader.

Do most film articles have a "cast" section or "characters" section? I'm a person that usually thinks of the characters in a story and not the actors portraying those characters. If you convert this section to prose and as "characters" then you could remove the cast section and instead blend mention of the notable (where the wikilink would be blue) actors in the main Plot section.

I noticed you used a style of putting <ref>...</ref> tags directly before the periods ending sentences. I don't think this is wrong but it seemed unusual. I can't find the WP:MOS section that deals with this.

FWIW - I learned about this film from a general news article[1] and so it seems to be attracting attention here in the USA. --Marc Kupper|talk 16:54, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I found Help:Footnotes#Where to place ref tags which says "Ref tags should follow any punctuation (usually a period), not precede it" and WP:REFPUNC which has "Refs are placed after adjacent punctuation, not before". I cleaned up the draft article to follow this. --Marc Kupper|talk 17:32, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
o_O Wow. Thanks a bunch!
"If practical, I would reorder the list so that new characters are introduced in the context of characters already known to the reader."
--> You're right, it makes sense. However Eddie Marsan is billed before Richard Brake, so I've switched the reference around instead.
"Do most film articles have a "cast" section or "characters" section?"
--> Yes, film articles always have a cast section, and it's listed as "actor: character", not the other way around, though I totally get what you're saying. See here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonlight_(2016_film)#Cast
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man:_No_Way_Home#Cast
Sorry for the ref stuff, I was totally clueless about how to do that.
And thanks a lot for the feedback and the misc fixes! :) Mictateur (talk) 20:27, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I found that a fr:Vesper Chronicles article exists for this film on the French Wikipedia but don't know how to set up the WP:ILL between this draft and the French Wikipedia plus don't know how to deal with that the film's name in French does not match its name in English, plus don't know how to get the names to be italicized in the interwiki sidebar. It's a bunch of technical issues. Maybe someone on the helpdesk can help. --Marc Kupper|talk 17:49, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I've tried to do that once and I'm not sure I even succeeded. I originally assumed it was a simple Wikipedia link and it turns out you have to edit Wikidata...
However, I assumed I had to first wait for the article to pass review, and then edit Wikidata. Is it common to link drafts? Mictateur (talk) 20:31, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, looks like I managed to do it from here: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q112705638#sitelinks-wikipedia
It looks good from where I stand as I see the links to both the French and Russian articles. Mictateur (talk) 22:14, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mainspace

[edit]

Mictateur, this film is a notable topic, and we can put it in the mainspace. Thank you for writing up this article. Are you able to move it to the mainspace? Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 20:46, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback. :)
I just tried to move to Article and to "Vesper (film)" instead of "Vesper (2022 film)".
Here it is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesper_(film)
Is this what I was supposed to do?
Also, should I remove the beginning of the article? (I mean all the AfC stuff and the AfC comment) Mictateur (talk) 22:02, 29 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Plot

[edit]

The opening text paragraph is verbatim from the movie. I could not find the anywhere else the verbatim of it, not even on the Vesper film official source, so I think, it's better for me to type it here. That's why I think quoted mark will help so it won't be edited later.

Mostly I copy the plot from two online review. I could barely finishing watched the movie, but I did to confirm the plot and add some. Major editing required, but I don't know if I'm capable to do that. John Xmith (talk) 15:07, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Interpretation

[edit]

[apologies, I'm not a regular editor and have no idea how to format this "correctly."] The summary says "Deeply saddened, Vesper buries the altered seeds, believing there’s no use for them in a world without her loved ones." It seemed very clear to me that she was planting those seeds: buried shallowly and each separate from the other. What was far less clear was what happened at the end when she released the other seeds from the tower and they suddenly developed spinner-wings and flew off. But then, the movie is long on mysteries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.108.155.31 (talk) 01:12, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
