After over three years of discussion remaining open, consensus has not been reached to merge. WTF? (talk) 18:08, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It was proposed to merge this article into admiralty court.

No merge. The VA courts were separate courts set up under their own legislation viz (lastly?) 26° & 27° Victoriae, cap. XXXIV "An Act to facilitate the Appointment of Vice Admirals and of Officers in Vice Admiralty Courts in Her Majesty's Possessions abroad, and to confirm the past Proceedings, to extend the Jurisdiction, and to amend the Practice of those Courts." IMHO, the Vice Admiralty Courts were functionally very much connected with the High Court of Admiralty, regardless of whether or not they had a separate legislative origin. One of the several concerns of the HCA was smuggling, which was a primary concern of the VAC.
Whether or not this page is merged, it seems very "stubby" at this point. I'm in the middle of reading Charles M. Andrews' "The Colonial Period in American History," vol. 4, "England's Commercial and Colonial Policy," of which chapter VIII, "The Vice Admiralty Courts," would be very helpful in expanding this page.
