Research needs expert attention

I have made a start at summarizing Vaughan's research, but as a layperson, I lack the knowledge to really make a good summary of his findings and their place in a historical context (e.g., which, if any, were truly pioneering, which were superseded by later work, if any are still relevant today, etc.) Would love if someone with more knowledge than I could contribute.
