[edit]Regarding this statement: WGR has been occasionally criticized for their disproportionate coverage of hockey, while dedicating an extremely small amount of time to college basketball and the NBA. This is despite the fact that the NHL is undeniably less popular on a national scale.
I really don't see the relevance of basketball's popularity "on a national scale." Why note something like that? You might as well note that soccer is more popular than both sports on an international scale, but that would be equally irrelevant to the matter at hand.
The fact is that WGR is not broadcasting to a national audience. They are broadcasting to a local market (Buffalo, NY). In that market, hockey is undeniably far more popular than basketball (either college or NBA). So it is common sense that they would give hockey more coverage than basketball. 140.251.125.50 23:30, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Matt
