Family matters[edit]

This reference supports the identification of Caroline Traill (nee Whateley) as William Whateley's sister, William Frederick Traill being her son, and also nephew of John Welchman Whateley.

George Whateley is known in another context, solicitor to Lord Calthorpe: see David Cannadine, Lords and Landlords: The Aristocracy and the Towns, 1774-1967. On p. 142 we find him in business with his brother John. So that makes four sons.

There is a Mary Whateley, daughter of William Whateley of "Wandsworth", Staffordshire. Look to me like a mistake for Handsworth. Charles Matthews (talk) 17:10, 27 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
