Contested deletion
[edit]This page should not be speedy deleted as an unambiguous copyright infringement, because this is a translation of the entry of the Russian Wikipedia. Please let us keep it an expand it. (your reason here) --Mistico Dois (talk) 18:16, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- The problem is that one section is a word for word copy of https://www.museothyssen.org/en/collection/artists/braque-georges/woman-mandolin, and the article is just one single version, so there is no way to redact the copyright violation without redacting everything. I suggest starting over, and write the offending section in your own words. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 18:20, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Also, translating from other wikipedias requires attribution. See WP:CWW. It is also recommended to use the Template:Translated_page on the talk page of the new article.— rsjaffe 🗣️ 18:21, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Except you interrupted my process of creating and expanding the entry. I usually wouldn't have published it that soon but unfortunately I had to, unless if I wanted to loose what I had written before. I am still expanding it. WikiProjects and translation reference are already done.Mistico Dois (talk) 18:27, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- I normally don't act quickly on a new article, but copyright violations are a different matter. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 18:30, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

- I deleted most of what came from the Russian Wikipedia entry and I will be expanding it from the new references I added. Is it better this way?Mistico Dois (talk) 18:35, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
- Yes, that should work. I'll remove the deletion template and instead put in a request for redaction of the initial commit. Make sure you save a copy of the text in case the initial commit contains information that you might otherwise lose. You may have to re-add some of the initial text that wasn't part of the copyright violation. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to partially redact that initial commit. Thanks for working on this! — rsjaffe 🗣️ 18:42, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
