I have moved the Britain's got Talent to the top of the page since it is the original series, in which normal entitles it to appear and the top regardless of alphabetical order. (The Apprentice (TV series) for example). Alexsau1991 (talk) 00:34, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Britain's Got Talent (Ireland)

[edit]

It is called Britain's Got Talent. Irish viewers cannot vote. There are no auditions held in Ireland. It is just shown on TV3. Therefore, I am removing the Irish parts. Jordan353 (talk) 20:49, 11 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Estonia

[edit]

Estonia's "Talendijaht" is does not belong to this article as Talendijaht does not have the same format and does not have anything to do with "Got Talent" at all. Estonias first "Got Talent" (Eesti Talent, Estonia's Talent) season starts in autumn 2010. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andry2109 (talkcontribs) 12:26, 27 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Interwiki linking overload

[edit]

These need to be cleaned up. I Went through and did the table, but they're not really appropriate for main space. They don't really help an english reader, which is the primary audience here, and they disguise the fact that we don't have articles on these subjects and discourage people from creating them if they're notable since they're not red-linked.--Crossmr (talk) 15:01, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

UK and Ireland joint.

[edit]

why does it say that Britons got talent is a joint television production with ROI when it isn't its just shown there, A similar thing was discussed about The X Factor and it was decided that it was not a joint version,C. 22468 Talk to me 17:55, 5 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

All of the Got Talents

[edit]

Should the table that features all of the Got Talents be placed in a collapse box? I would make this edit myself but I don't want it to be reverted. I feel that the quality of the article would be improved as a result of this because it contains an unnecessary amount of space on the article that could be avoided. — Preceding unsigned comment added by THetardis123 (talkcontribs) 12:30, 11 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Possible Suggestion - End Date for Discontinued Editions

[edit]

Just a suggestion here - is it possible to amend the table covering all of the international editions, to provide the end date for when a particular edition was discontinued? GUtt01 (talk) 21:34, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Concern with History

[edit]

From what I read, it seems to discuss only the formation of the franchise in Britain. It doesn't stipulate when the franchise took off internationally, beyond the UK and USA. GUtt01 (talk) 15:15, 2 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

World's Got Talent

[edit]

Fremantle debuted a global version of Got Talent with China Hunan Television which was named as World's Got Talent (Chinese: 巅峰之夜; pinyin: Diānfēng Zhīyè) in 2019. See zh:巅峰之夜 to learn more.--Dabao qian (talk) 19:19, 13 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think World's Got Talent should have its own article, although much of the press coverage might be in Chinese. -- Ssilvers (talk) 23:53, 22 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Genres for Acts across all Got Talent editions

[edit]

This is just a listing of genres that acts should fall under across all global editions of this franchise. Editors should try to ensure that when listing a full table of acts taking part in a series/season of the contest (those who made it to Live Episode rounds), that they define their act under the correct genre:

  • Acrobatics - Act features acrobatic moves and displays. Such acts can include Gymnastic Performances and Aerialists.
  • Animals - Act features one or multiple animals in its performance. Acts under this genre include Dog Trick performances, and Tricks involving Animals.
  • Comedy - Act features a performance with comedic routines. Such acts include Stand-Up Comedy, Impersonations, and Ventriloquism.
  • Dance - Act features the involvement of Choreographed/Freestyle Dance Moves. Acts that fall under this genre can include Solo Performers, Duets, and Dance Groups.
  • Danger - Act features the involvement of stunts that are considered dangerous and can risk serious injuries / possible death. Acts under this genre can include Escape Artists and those using Actual Bladed Weapons.
  • Magic - Act features the involvement of Illusions and Magic Tricks. Such acts are defined by the tricks and illusions they perform as their act.
  • Music - Act features performances with musical pieces. Acts under this genre primarily use musical instruments to conduct pieces, and can do so as Solo acts, Duets, or as a band.
  • Singing - Act features vocal performances. Acts that fall under this genre can include Solo performers, Duets, Groups, and Choirs.
  • Variety - Act features the involvement of entertainment tricks that do not fall under most other genres. Such acts can include those who use Hula-Hoops, and Carnival Performers.

Some acts may be defined under two or three different genres depending on their performance. Examples of this can be:

  • A guitarist who also conducts singing in their performance. Their act would be defined under Singing / Music (The arrangement depends on which is the more strongly presented by the performer)
  • A Magician whose act is also comedic. Their act would be defined under Comedy / Magic

When (and which country iteration) was it introduced? Whose idea was it? Do all iterations have it?

Do other iterations have its own versions of performing in front of the queen?176.222.39.9 (talk) 13:46, 11 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Germany's international edition is believed to be the first to introduce this format, and several other editions now incorporate it - Britain, USA, Australia, France, are a few I can list. As to whose idea it is, that is a very hard question to answer, as its unclear who conceived it; only the country where it first appeared is known. GUtt01 (talk) 00:02, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Champions - Separate Table?

Should any international edition with its own version of Champions really be listed in the table for "Got Talent around the world" section, or be in its own section (like Got More Talent does)? GUtt01 (talk) 00:04, 12 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mention of (dis)ability in season winner listings—inappropriate?

[edit]

Potentially controversial and I don't edit much, so I'm not going to change anything right now, but this seems to be worthy of some serious consideration.

There are 6 mentions of blind winners and 2 of autistic winners. Regardless of whether we consider autism or blindness disabilities, or simply different ways of interacting with the world, nobody else gets this treatment on this page. These sorts of conditions also do not tend to be called out in similar lists on other pages. The American Idol page does not call out the fact that Crystal Bowersox has type 1 diabetes. A similar list including Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder would not appropriately call out their blindness.

This table includes names and ages. These individuals are included due to their talents and resultant victories, regardless of anything related to their personal lives. Calling out these specific details may imply that they are overcoming something that others are not, and that is simply not appropriate in this context, irrespective of whether some might consider it to be the case. Some discussion of people’s personal lives is of course relevant and includable on their individual pages, but unless we are going to put 2-to-5-word biographical descriptors next to many, many names in this table, it seems inappropriate to specifically call out blindness, autism or any other difference in physical or mental ability.

Does that mean we should take the ages out too? Those seem less problematic. Every individual winner’s age is listed, and age is a crude but somewhat reliable means of gauging talent development (and stamina in a demanding, competitive environment) versus contestants’ peers. dq (talk) 15:09, 23 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
