It is easy to confuse caste and sect, especially when they have the same names. Yes Nath is a sect, a religious denomination and for that you have Nath. The relation between Nath sect and Nath caste is somewhat similar to Vaishnava sect and Vaishnava caste. This article is supposed to be about the Bengali Hindu caste Yogi (Nath) also known as Yogis or Jugis and one of the recognized OBCs in West Bengal. It is true that they were initially a religious sect, but later when they settled in eastern Bengal, they took up weaving as a profession and constituted a caste. Later they took to lime manufacture. Who can deny that? As the article stands now, it it should either be merged with Nath or reverted back to its original state. However, as in the case of merger the original article on the Nath caste would be lost, I would therefore vouch for reverting back to the original state. Please let me know your opinion on this. Now that a request for deletion has come up, I am going to revert the article back to its original state i.e. before Dr K.K.Debnath started contributing to the article. BengaliHindu (talk) 14:37, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
