Reply Girls

Are we going to have a section on how the yogscast declaired war on the reply girls? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.26.19.201 (talk) 14:50, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

If you can find a reliable source that describes the controversy, go ahead and add the section! Belegdal (talk) 17:09, 25 August 2012 (UTC)

Martyn Littlewood

People keep adding Martyn's channel to the list of Yogscast channels. Although he often collaborates with the Yogscast, and currently operates out of YogTowers, I'm pretty sure he is not a member of the Yogscast. He explains this in this video: Moving to Yogtowers, NEW SONG and Gamescom! on YouTube -- Belegdal (talk) 21:33, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

He didn't say that he's not part of the Yogscast. He only stated that he won't edit "their" stuff but works on his own channel (to calm down his audience?), which most of the yogscast members do. Why would the Yogscast allow him to use the /yogscastmartyn url if he's not part of the team?(Gofa83 (talk) 03:01, 30 August 2012 (UTC))
With the new changes to his channel (Background, icon and name) it's without a doubt a Yogscast branded channel now. Hope we can agree on that. (Gofa83 (talk) 05:29, 3 October 2012 (UTC)).

Numerous BLP violations

A new user removed the "Staff controversy" section, and I'm inclined to agree with them. The entire thing was cited to a couple of blog posts and a reddit thread. None of these are reliable. In addition, all of them were written by people involved. This raises some BLP concerns—namely regarding self-published sources, gossip. Please do not add the section again unless it can be cited to a reliable third party.

In addition, several people have been adding the last names of some of the members. Please note that without a reliable source, this is also a BLP violation—see WP:BLPPRIVACY. Again, it needs to be clearly cited to a reliable third party or their own websites, not a wiki page, reddit thread, etc. elektrikSHOOS (talk) 06:17, 4 September 2012 (UTC)

I don't know if it was necessarily BLP violation foremost, but it was certainly a one-time news event and we don't cover those. Not to mention there are no actual reliable sources covering it. So it's not notable and I agree with section removal. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 09:41, 4 September 2012 (UTC)
The section was about people from the Yogscast slinging some fairly serious charges against people who used to work for them. I'd say that's a BLP concern, and it's certainly not appropriate for the article unless it's properly cited. elektrikSHOOS (talk) 00:52, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
It was unsourced news event foremost and it just happened to be a BLP issue too. That's all I meant. —  HELLKNOWZ  ▎TALK 07:37, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
That makes sense. elektrikSHOOS (talk) 18:13, 5 September 2012 (UTC)

Yogventures

I think we cold do with a section on Yogventures, which is their upcoming game. I would do it myself, but I don't have the time right now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.8.72.251 (talk) 16:28, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

There was a section there before, and also for Yogscast: And The Mystical Dream Tower. They were removed by User:MikeWazowski, who said "removed both videogames sections - no independent coverage (all primary), unreleased, fails WP:CRYSTAL - this is not an advertising platform for these people" (see this edit). --Belegdal (talk) 20:19, 13 September 2012 (UTC)

What about creating subpages?

There are things that could be said about the world created by the team in Minecraft, Tekkit and other. I'm not sure it is encyclopedic though. Could it be written in subpages of this article?

Like: Yoscast/Lewis Yogcast/Sips_ Yogscast/Honewdew Inc Yogscast/Sipsco (I've created this one as an example)

And so on --Grondilu (talk) 12:47, 12 December 2012 (UTC)

Honestly as a fan of the Yogscast none of these pages would really be of any value. NotMiserable (talk) 22:13, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

Subpages of articles are specifically disallowed; see Wikipedia:Subpages. In any case, all of those things are way too specific and non-notable. In any case, subpages would still have to comply with Wikipedia article standards, such as the notability guideline, which none of these would pass. Such specific information would be better served somewhere else, such as the Yogscast Wiki (hosted by Wikia). elektrikSHOOS (talk) 23:57, 17 December 2012 (UTC)

List of members?

Can I ask where the list of members have gone? There should be no need for confusion of members, it is pretty straight forward. If their tag is on the yogscast website, this means they are on the team. as well as their youtube pages, for example "YOGSCAST Sjin"...

I think we need the list back. Even if its just a new section titled something like "Staff Members" plus if it was a new section we could include all the admin staff also that are included on the website?

- Limbsaw - (talk) 13:56, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

For example; here is the yogscast wikia. This lists all current staff and previous staff. http://yogscast.wikia.com/wiki/Yogscast_Staff & Here is the official listing of current staff via the yogscast website. http://www.yogscast.com/about/staff

- Limbsaw - (talk) 14:07, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

I have removed the excessive list of YouTube channel links in the External links section. I don't think that the long list of every Yogscast channel is useful to somebody reading this article for factual purposes, and it isn't very encyclopaedic. Given that the primary YouTube channel links very prominently to the 'sister' channels, I don't think this change will confuse users or make it harder for them to access the additional channels, and it makes the article a lot tidier. Notch vs Yogscast Controversy

I seem to recall a controversy surrounding Yogscast. I'm not sure of the details but I know notch pretty much banned them from Minecon. Maybe someone can research and add it to the article. 64.254.244.103 (talk) 15:39, 16 April 2013 (UTC)

There was a section about that previously. It could not be properly sourced, and because it was controversial and involved living people it was removed. elektrikSHOOS (talk) 04:48, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

Multiple issues / July 2013.

  • This article uses bare URLs for citations. (July 2013)
  • This article has an unclear citation style. (July 2013)

  • If you can help, have any suggestions to help clear up some of the citations, please comment below!

  • The problem with the cites is that most of the actual citations to purposely act factual towards the article are plain YouTube video links. These are not formatted to suggest what they are, when the fact happened etc.

I have fixed your multiple issues. Mostly I used templates:

Removal and Addition of members > GameChap & Bertie, Yogscast Will

Just a heads up, they have been "removed" from the Yogscast. Their content was not up to snuff, and they parted ways. I can't find the reddit ama where this was stated, I apologize. http://yogscast.wikia.com/wiki/GameChap

Faulty Edits

Someone removed the mention of <Redacted> as Zoey's last name, even though it's written on the official Yogscast Wiki as her last name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.209.0.44 (talk) 18:34, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I'm an admin at the Yogscast Wiki and was the one who actually found out about the surname and put it there. I contacted Zoey herself (via Twitter) about the surname and she said she wants to keep it private if possible, since she's got social anxiety. I have since retired from the wiki and am not really responsible for what's on her wiki page right now. Although this article is probably more visited than the Yogscast Wiki one, and it would be more visible here and that's breaking her privacy. In short, she doesn't want to, so let's not put it here. 87.244.196.158 (talk) 20:44, 3 January 2014 (UTC)
It's listed on Yog wiki as her assumed surname, because there was someone in Lewis and Simon's friends list on facebook with that name. She's never confirmed or denied that it's her real surname, and we don't know that that person is really her because her anxiety causes her to never show her face. I personally think we should respect her wishes and not delve into her personal life unless she actually discloses her name. Crisis.EXE 09:07, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Tons of false information

This wikipedia page is full of false and not up to date information. Look at the Yogscast wiki for the correct info. For example, this page on the Yogscast Wiki has all of the correct info on who is and has been a Yogscast member also with a correct timeline. This wikipedia page for the Yogscast is very misleading because it is full of incorrect info and it will make people believe things that are false. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:9:4381:1D33:40E8:543E:7949:5399 (talk) 06:41, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi there, thanks for your input. I totally understand where you are coming from, and in these kind of circumstances where the article is based in a large fandom/fan base, indeed the Wikia version may be better - generally because of the large input from the fan-base; as well as Wikia's allowing simple fan POV input, but Wikipedia articles are different. We don't simply just allow any POV, we must keep it all to a neutral, none-fan POV, where we only state the facts. I did actually create a very detailed table, including all the members of the Yogscast, their position, etc etc but just never put it on here! I'm currently updating it in my sandbox as its a couple of years out of date. I'd love your input! Things like references of members, dates, more references, links, etc is always useful! Thanks for your input, Limbsaw ~talk~ 01:07, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Regarding Hat Films as part of the Yogscast

Two points that I think might be worth working in somehow are as follows... Firstly, it's written in the article that the Yogscast have never worked professionally with Mojang since Minecon 2011. Technically this would be untrue, as Hat Films - who are have worked with Mojang on trailers for Minecraft, including the XBox skin pack trailers - are a part of the Yogscast. Not sure exactly how you'd go about citating this though, as evidence of Hat Films being the creators of the trailers only really exists in some of their videos and in their podcasts. The second, less important, suggestion would be regarding the section on Gary's Mod - it might be worth noting that some videos - particularly the recent ones on the Yogscast main channel - were filmed on the Hatventures servers which - as far as I am aware - are community-funded servers ...but this would need verifying and citating, of course. (Should be covered on the Hatventures website if that counts as a reliable source?) This is covered in the recent TTT video titled '321 Audio' if this counts as a usable source? Hope this helps... FireFly 209 (talk) 23:43, 11 January 2015 (UTC)

@FireFly 209: Hi there FireFly, regarding your ideas:

Mojany since 2011: I do agree that The Yogscast have worked with Mojang, in one way or another since 2011. I can't remember where I've seen it being mentioned, but I am pretty sure they were involved with Microsoft and Mojang in 2012/13 to advertise or release game commentary of the Xbox Minecraft version. On top of that, even Martyn/InTheLittleWood and other Yogscast network members have been involved with paid sponsorship with Minecraft, so AKA Mjoang. And yes I also agree that I have seen info about HatFilms and Mojang. I'll have to find some sources... maybe with your help?
Gmod: To be fair, I'm not too sure wether that sounds credible... As I watch The Yogscast, I do understand what you mean. It's just hard to write something in into the body of an article when you don't really know the full facts behind the matter...

Please feel free to find websites/YouTube videos, how every many it is... it can help to form some literature. Limbsaw ~talk~ 23:00, 12 January 2015 (UTC)

Yogventures!

Due to the highly publicized nature of the failure of this KickStarter project, the amount of funds involved, and the fact that Yogventures! redirects to this page I find it highly curious that nothing whatsoever is stated in the article about it. — Falerin<talk>,<contrib> 20:03, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

Logic

83.81.110.115 said that some guys comment on Minecraft was a "fabrication". By implication, I assume that you use the logic of no evidence = false. That logic can be reversed, to say that in the same way that you assume that with the lack of evidence, the Israphel information is false, for it can't be proven true, you can state the opposite; that with respect to the lack of evidence in the same way, the inverse is also valid, that with the lack of evidence, the statement cannot be proven false. And, so the statement is of indeterminate veracity, that which is a status not well understood, where normal Wikipedia policies fail to pronounce a formal decision as to whether such informations remain on the page, or whether they are to be removed. When it comes to proving and disproving statements, sufficient evidence is required to either confirm or contradict said statement; if such evidence is indeed lacking, the veracity is declared indeterminate, in this case. Indeed, one can easily claim that the means to contradict can be simply be found in the lack of evidence, as in this case; alas, that simply is not true, how could it be? If we were to presume that statement to be true, we would have the evidence, but we don't, for no written or oral record remains, to proved beyond doubt, that this method is to be the superior choice, for all cases suchlike. So we shall consider the veracity to be indeterminate, for that is the best we can do. Remember the second sentence from before, the one that says that no evidence means that the statement cannot be proven untrue? That is exactly what is important here to consider.

Criticism Section

There are many people critical of the Yogscast. Markus Pearson (creator of Minecraft) once claimed that yogscast staff used inappropriate slurs at an early Minecon to harass a child. Also, there should obviously be a section about criticism of the group's failed kickstarter game as being a "scam." (There are a number of online articles that speculate this. The game kickstarter gained a ton of money and support, but yogscast claimed development had to stop when they lost "$36000" to an artist, which is only a fraction of what they had. Also, PCGamer claims they have proof Yogscast kept at least 150000 kickstarter cash for themselves.) 75.177.11.11 (talk) 01:21, 26 July 2018 (UTC)

I'm not entirely sure what's being asked here. Both Persson's complaint about Minecon and the failure of the Yogventures! Kickstarter takes up half of the history section, and has done since 2015. TardisTybort (talk) 05:13, 9 August 2018 (UTC)
