- Quote: "For reasons best known to him, Ziad, with the exception of "Sahriyyeh" his first play, was always opposed to filming his early plays thereby depriving generations of fans worldwide from the nostalgic memory of such unforgettable art." Is this an acceptable encyclopedia type of entry? Or "When asked about the reason he never filmed his plays, his answer was, in the best humorous Ziad Rahbani's style, "Darb 7amraneh" meaning an act of foolishness." -- Really? Is that all we will end up saying about his works? LOL But still I am afraid to delete the said quotations or replace them... Perhaps somebody really took it personally werldwayd (talk) 22:37, 20 August 2008 (UTC)
- I have now added many sections and hiuge amount of information. Not still ideal but far far better than what we had. I invite others to make additions or amendments according to necessity werldwayd (talk) 09:15, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
He's atheist, not a christian, see this interview: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fouTNTaIdTY where he says that "to be a communist you don't have to be an atheist but if you want to really apply Marxism you have to be an atheist. He goes on to say that atheism is not hating god as the caller says but believing that god doesn't exist. After the woman asks him his thoughts about god he says that it is every man's wish that god exists because a god would punish war criminals and those responsible to the inequalities in the world which are the reason why Marxism came along. He then talks about the people he calls the "agents of god" on earth who claim this is all a test for our beliefs and asks when would this test end? Sarcastically, he says I gave up on the test and I would like to know the results of mass genocides like the one in Rwanda."
It can also be found easily on google by searching for "ziad rahbani atheist". Patcito (talk) 15:42, 24 February 2010 (UTC)
