The controversial sermon

[edit]

This probably doesn't belong in the main article, but I think it's worth to be stated on what he actually said:

Original Malay text (I only put the controversial parts):

Baru ni berlaku banjir besar di kolumpo ... kedai hindu ni lagila tenggelam ... dah lama lepas banjir tu pun saya tanya ... "Ane.. apa macam itu ari banjir ? You punya kedai ane.. ? "Habis semua" ... "Sama tuhan pun kena ka?" Tuhan pun kena dia kata. "... Eh ane itu tuhan patut dia tuhan tau. Apa pasal ane takde atur ane punya tuhan depan kedai kata ohh woooww air stop. Pergi itu amna kedai mamak sana kasi banjir. Ini tuhan punya kedai... Kalau tuhan air pun tak boleh tahan. Apa lagi dia boleh buat..." "Hey dei tambi.. mana boleh. Itu batu la." Dia pun tahu. Dia marah kita pula. ... "Aci apa pasal beli ini tuhan? Ini tuhan gajah dia punya belalai sudah patah." "Takpa. Balik kita taruk plaster." ...dia pun tahu bodoh ye tak. Last2 kita tanya dia. "Ane aci betul2 cerita. You sembah apa tuhan? ... ...Hindu kepercayaan central mereka dia, kita manusia tak suci... dia mandi sungai ganga... Saya pernah pergi sungai ganga. Nak kata suci macam mana? Bangkai ayam dok berjalan. Dengan kayu balak kecik2 tu pun timbul...

My English translation:

Recently there was a huge flood in Kuala Lumpur ... this Hindu shop was flooded ... after the flood subsided I asked: "Ane (Tamil = Big brother), how was your shop after the flood?" "Everything is damaged" ... "Even the gods? (referring to the idols)" He said even the idols were damaged. "The gods should've known. Why didn't you arrange them in front of your shop so the idols stop the water and redirect the flood to the Mamak (Tamil Muslim) shop? This is gods' shop ... if the gods can't even stop the flood water then what else can they do?..." "Hey tambi (Tamil=Little brother), that's not possible. Those idols are only stones." Even he knew (that the idols are just stones). And he was annoyed at me. ... "Aci (Tamil=Big sister) why did you buy this god? This elephant god's trunk is broken." "No problem. When I get home, I'll plaster the broken parts." ...Even she knew it's foolish/silly. Lastly I asked her, "Big sister honestly tell me what god do you worship? ... this god is already broken, it couldn't even withstand the flood." "Actually, we have a bigger god" ... "Then why don't you worship the bigger god? Why all these small elephant, horse, snake idols?" ...The central Hindu belief is that man is impure/spiritually unclean (to worship the bigger god)... so they bathe in Ganges ... I've been to Ganges. How could they say it's holy? Chicken carcasses and small timbers floating around..."

It's worth mentioning that he did it while he was still in the Opposition and nobody raised any issue. The clip only surfaced a few years later after he turned pro-government, and immediately becomes an effective political weapon against him. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.146.71.69 (talk) 15:19, 19 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
