Tarakeswar Degree College, established in 1986,[1] is an undergraduate general and honours degree college in Tarakeswar in Hooghly district. It offers undergraduate courses in arts, commerce and sciences. It is affiliated to University of Burdwan.[2]

History

Sri Srimat Dandiswami Hrishikesh Ashram Mahanta Maharaj of Tarakeswar Math with his kindness and generosity donated 3.5 acres of prime land for the purpose of establishing the college campus.Kind support from the Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Sri Anil Basu and Hon’ble Minister of Fire & Emergency Services Department, Govt. of West Bengal, Sri Pratim Chatterjee, Sri Shankar Ray Chowdhury, Ex-General of Army & Member of Rajya Sabha, who made liberal contributions from their Local Area Development Funds became instrumental in shaping the college.

Accreditation

Recently, Tarakeswar Degree College has been awarded B grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).[3] The college is also recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).[1] In November, 2016 new NAAC Accreditation score is awarded by 2.43 points (B Grade).[4]
