Text[edit]

The full text of the book can be found at [1] (volume 1, A-K, 1886, text), [2] (volume 1, pdf), [3] (volume 2, L-Z, 1889, text) and [4] (volume 2 pdf). Fram (talk) 14:54, 17 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Template[edit]

This template should be changed to include the volume as an argument with default=Volume1, so eg. use "Bryan|article=Last, first|volume=2" Jane (talk) 12:14, 9 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Moreover, I'd suggest this template should include a |page= parameter, so it doesn't just like to the cover page of this book, but to the page where the referenced article can be found. --bender235 (talk) 16:28, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Editions:

First published, 2 vols. 4to, 1816
Second edition, revised by J. Stanley, 1 vol 8vo, 1849
Supplement by H. Ottley, 1876
Third Edition, revised by Robert Edmund Graves and Sir Walter Armstrong, 2 volumes, 8vo. 1884-1889
Reprinted 1894,1899, 1901–1902 (vol.3 (1904) )
New, revised and enlarged edition 1903–1905

  1. I have moved this template to {{Bryan (3rd edition)}} because it is a two volume edition published in 1886 and 1889.
  2. There is also the five volume edition available {{Bryan (1903 edition)}}.

In both case if one sets the volume number it displays the correct year of publication and a url link to the start of the volume at the Internet Archive.

With the page= field available, it really would be much better if the link reflected that. Charles Matthews (talk) 12:55, 30 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Template now links to the article not the title page[edit]

@Charles I had the same thought and have been developing such a solution. I had already done something similar for {{Cite Notitia Parliamentaria}} so it was relatively quick for me to implement it. -- PBS (talk) 13:40, 1 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If no page number is given the template links to the title page, however either the page parameter, or the pages parameter, are set the url is adjusted to point at that page. See for example:

Also I have sorted the two categories by the title name rather than the Wikipedia article name. This should make it easier to find articles that are close to each other in Bryan, making it easier to add page numbers to the article. For example I have done it for all the articles that appear under the letter X (in volume 2).
