Hi, thanks for your assistance with the {{Chinese script needed-inline}} template. Since you know your way around template coding, I wonder if you can help me with an improvement. At the moment, the template populates two categories - Category:Articles needing Chinese script or text and the dated subcategory. I want tagged articles to only appear in the second category but somehow be "transcluded" to the parent category, thus avoiding every page to which the tag is added having two interrelated categories. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, ► Philg88 ◄♦talk06:45, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I changed it to fix your desired categorization schema. I think you will need to set up a bot to create the dated categories automatically when a dated category is required, and to delete one that is empty. -- 70.24.250.235 (talk) 21:30, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As of when I made this post, Wikipedia didn't have Template:Cree script needed inline, Template:Cyrillic script needed inline, Template:Japanese script needed inline, or inline templates requesting any other non-Latin script be added. Should this template be generalized to allow for requests for any language instead of just one?

I think it should be generalized—I came to this talk page for two reasons, one of which was to see whether this had been brought up before because I had the same thought. Why just Chinese? On the other hand, the template is currently in use on only one page on all of Wikipedia. That was the other reason I'd come here: to see if anyone had discussed deleting this template for lack of use. Of course, that could just mean that it's been a very successful template, that it has been responded to consistently and then removed. Largoplazo (talk) 10:26, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
