Clarification

Hi, what exactly is "honors" and "footnote" supposed to be? What type of information fits under those categories? Ekantik talk 02:08, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Image size

This template needs a function for image size as in other info boxes (Ekabhishek (talk) 07:21, 1 October 2008 (UTC))

header color

Hi, I will be changing the color of the name bar to a lighter one present in the Template:Hindu philosophy, I think the lighter color blends well with the black heading. Other editors kindly review this. — Nvineeth talk 10:57, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

+field image caption required

Dear Editors, a field for image caption is required, for ex see : Template:Infobox PersonNvineeth talk 11:59, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Done! fixed by redtiger! thanks. — Nvineeth talk 15:33, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

semi protect the template?

I think several anonymous users are editing the template, instead of the article to add details, it will be a good idea to semi protect this template (see the history for edits like above). Can some admin do this. Thanks. — Nvineeth talk 04:05, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Correct Date of Birth

HI, the correct date of birth is 16 Feb not 18 Feb. Please check http://www.rkmath.org/ the official followers of Ramakrishna Mission founded by Swami Vivekananda —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.94.11.126 (talk) 15:37, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

The Infobox Is Being Modified For Swami Vivekananda Article

We have started to modify this infobox, few days ago we added 'signature' field. now we are going to add few more fields. Please discuss here before reverting or making any changes. --Titodutta (talk) 16:31, 16 August 2011 (UTC)

While signature is a useful field, birth time and death time are not useful fields. As in other people infoboxes, we should restrict to birth/death date and birth/death place. --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:48, 16 August 2011 (UTC)
I agree. The timings are not required and will lengthen the infobox. Editing the template is a delicate issue since we hv to keep other articles in mind too and their requirements, rightly pointed out to me by User:Redtigerxyz. Please post your requirements other than the time here n i will c to it. SASSOTO (talk) 16:33, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
Hm, I have added that in article body! --Tito Dutta (Talk) 17:21, 18 August 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Adding new fields is OK if they do not influence other articles. But IMO any other changes should be discussed and a change analysis considered before going ahead. --Redtigerxyz Talk 17:27, 18 August 2011 (UTC)

Founder field

The founder field was unclear. How can a Hindu leader have a founder? Institutions founded by the leader can be put in Titles/Honors. --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:33, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

I politely differ. Titles/Honors may include 'Swami', 'Acharya', and many other fancy respectful titles routinely dedicated to leaders like Jagadguru Rāmabhadrācārya. However, instead of 'Founder' field we can have 'Founded' or 'Founder of' field for institutions like some ashram, math etc. Putting these in the Titles/honors field may confuse non-Indian readers. Adding the Influenced field

A Hindu leader is a influential philosopher too and I am the adding this field as present in Template:Infobox philosopher. People seeking to use it in articles may do so. Since it is a new field, it's addition won't affect articles already using Template:Infobox Hindu leader. Will update the documentation too. SASSOTO (talk) 03:03, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Seems good. --Redtigerxyz Talk 06:57, 19 August 2011 (UTC)

Adding fields

II wonder if we could have a few more fields added to the template, such as: Spouse and Children (required for Bhaktivinoda Thakur who never took sannyasa), Relatives, and Module (needed for embedding media files, if any). Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 06:08, 19 June 2014 (UTC)

Quote

I'd like to propose removing the "quote" parameter from this infobox. Quotes are more effective when presented in the context of the article text and properly explained. It is also rare for a figure like this to have only a single iconic quote, and one suited to presentation in this manner (in particular, being both in English and relatively short). Andy, I've undone your removal of the quote field in the template. There are currently 289 transclusions of the template across Wikipedia, with many of the articles (including GAs) using the quote field. I find it unconvincing and even somewhat presumptuous to decide for all these editors that no single quote can encapsulate a particular Hindu leader's life or teachings, and then use this unproven assumption as a rationale for scrapping the field altogether. IMO, it would be much more respectful (or less dismissive) of the many editors' contributions to these article to leave it up to them if they want to use the field rather than trying to determine for them what they can or cannot express by a single quote. Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 11:45, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
I'm unimpressed by special pleading, but we'll do it your way, with an RfC if necessary, then the community, whose time you will have wasted, and who have consistently decided not to include quotes in infoboxes elsewhere, will have them removed. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:11, 9 July 2014 (UTC)
Andy, impressibility and prescience aside, it would've been more helpful to present here what the community "consistently decided...elsewhere" prior to making changes that affect contributions by many editors not necessarily privy to that discussion, and then to seek their consensus here. At least to me, that would seem both rational and civil. And if the consensus among {{Hindu leader}} users is to retire the quote parameter, I for one will be most happy to comply. Regards, Cinosaur (talk) 10:10, 10 July 2014 (UTC)

This message is to notify you that there is an RfC ongoing on whether to add pronunciation info to {{Infobox person}}, a discussion which may also affect this template. Your comments on the matter are appreciated. The discussion can be found here. Thanks! 0x0077BE (talk · contrib) 17:15, 16 November 2014 (UTC)
