question...

[edit]

Newly captured alleged pirate Abduhl Wali-i-Musi was using {{Infobox WoT detainees}}. It has been replaced with {{infobox pirate}}.

Someone else has suggested that calling him a "pirate" may not be appropriate -- because he has not been convicted.

But, over and above that concern the other template has room for aliases and alternate transliterations. Abduhl Wali-i-Musi has half a dozen redirects to alternate names and versions of his name. But this template is missing an alternate name field. Geo Swan (talk) 04:17, 22 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a specific "alias" parameter, since "nickname" should only be used for colloquial names as "Blackbeard" or "Calico Jack". But a pirate may have been using an alias, e.g. "John Foster" to impersonate someone. De728631 (talk) 00:58, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Flag image

[edit]

Some notable pirates used to have their own flag, so I think we should have another image parameter to display it. Perhaps in a seperate section below the biographical list, something like "insignia" in the military unit box. De728631 (talk) 01:21, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lived to be converted to birth_date / death_date

[edit]

For reasons of consistency I would like to replace |lived= with |birth_date= and |death_date=. There will be no changes in the visual result but it will help parameters standarrdisation between templates. Are there are objections to that? -- Magioladitis (talk) 15:24, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A starting point would be to allow both, similar to the way it works in Template:Infobox military person. lived could then be deprecated before being removed. -- WOSlinker (talk) 17:26, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree. -- Magioladitis (talk) 18:25, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
