Template:Lang-no is permanently protected from editing because it is a heavily used or highly visible template. Substantial changes should first be proposed and discussed here on this page. I've just converted Template:Lang-nb and Template:Lang-nn to use Template:Language with name. In doing so, I added a messagebox, which I think should also be added here.

Please add, before the {{Documentation|Template:Lang-x/doc}} call, the following code:

Note that this template is for text in Norwegian without distinguishing between Bokmål and Nynorsk.

Text that shows differences between the 2 standard forms should use {{lang-nb}} and {{lang-nn}} instead. Separate ISO 639 codes — and, thus, language templates — do not exist to differentiate between Riksmål and Høgnorsk; these should be tagged with this template, {{lang-no}}.

Done. @OwenBlacker and JJMC89: It can't be done in the template documentation page since that's a redirect to the doc for the entire template series.
