Template-protected edit request on 14 December 2021

[edit]

Hi, is it please possible to derive a Czech (cz) clone of "NRDB species"? Thank you Miroslav Ličko (talk) 08:07, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

 Not done (as to the immediate edit request), please make your edits in Template:NRDB species/sandbox and validate prior to reactivation. Feel free to continue to discuss improvements to this template below. — xaosflux Talk 11:50, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:DATETIES

[edit]

Can someone please provide an example of how to use this template with the American (MDY) date format per MOS:DATETIES? — BarrelProof (talk) 18:10, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I found a way, although it's a bit ugly:
{{NRDB species|genus=Crotalus|species=cerastes|date=April 22,|year=2010}}
produces
Crotalus cerastes at the Reptarium.cz Reptile Database. Accessed April 22, 2010.
Notice the unusual use of a comma after "April 22" in the template input. I had tried
{{NRDB species|genus=Crotalus|species=cerastes|date=April 22, 2010}}
but that produces
Crotalus cerastes at the Reptarium.cz Reptile Database. Accessed April 22, 2010 {{{year}}}.
which has an obvious "{{{year}}}" error in the outcome.

Can't you just write:
{{NRDB species|genus=Crotalus|species=cerastes|access-date=March 26, 2023}}
to get:
Crotalus cerastes at the Reptarium.cz Reptile Database. Accessed March 26, 2023.
I'm not sure what the purpose of the separate date/year fields was, since the database itself doesn't seem to be versioned. Hqb (talk) 20:05, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. Yes, that's much better. Somehow I just didn't think of that! I guess the other uses of the template that I had seen were using |date= and |year= and I just didn't think to use |access-date=. — BarrelProof (talk) 22:12, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
