Suggested improvement
[edit]@Jon698: I have made a few possible improvements in the sandbox of this template so you can just type the meetup number and the rest of the information is held centrally. For example
{{WIG|1}}
produces{{WIG|2}}
produces
Or you can continue using the date only
{{WIG|date=2023}}
produces
Would this makes things a bit easier? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:59, 7 July 2023 (UTC)
- @MSGJ: This looks great and you did a good job on this template work. Jon698 (talk) 18:32, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
- Okay great, well I think I have updated all the uses in the new format. I've added some documentation at Template:WIG/doc. @Alanna the Brave: let me know if that makes any sense? The idea is that the details of each event is held centrally so you just need to type the meetup number on each page. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:24, 9 July 2023 (UTC)

Categories
[edit]Articles are being categorised under Category:WikiProject Women in Green articles and its subcategories. Question: is Category:All WikiProject Women in Green pages needed as well for some reason? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:31, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
The former category is described as "This category is used to keep track of all Wikiproject Women in Green articles where the nominator or the reviewer has attempted to make the article a Good Article."— Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:40, 9 July 2023 (UTC)- Have just noticed that one is for all pages whereas the other is just for articles. So I have repopulated this category now! — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:57, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
Use of parameters
[edit]There are 115 articles which have been identified with a specific event and 83 articles which are using the date parameter (which identifies it with a year but not a specific event). Question: should all articles be connected to a specific meetup, or is it fine just to have the year identified? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:39, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
There are 2 articles which do not have any parameter at all. What should happen with these - I could just add the year if that is helpful. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:39, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
- I have now added the date parameter to those ones — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 06:09, 15 July 2023 (UTC)
Name of template
[edit]May I suggest a rename to Template:WikiProject Women in Green? Firstly this will give better visibility of the project because not many editors will know what "WIG" in the wikicode means. Also this is more in line with how other wikiprojects name their templates. The current template name and all existing wrappers will continue to work as normal. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:48, 9 July 2023 (UTC)
- This has now been done — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:54, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks MSGJ (and sorry about the lack of response) -- busy with off-Wiki stuff recently. This looks good. Alanna the Brave (talk) 11:55, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
Template error?
[edit]I tried adding "{{WIG|date=2023}}" to Talk:Stacy Layne Matthews, but I just see error messages. Anyone able to fix? ---Another Believer (Talk) 20:29, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- I don't see any issue. Can you try again? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:14, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- @MSGJ Hmm, when I add the template and preview, I see "Preview warning: Page using Template:WIR with unexpected parameter "image-link" / Preview warning: Page using Template:WIR with unexpected parameter "meetup" / Preview warning: Page using Template:WIR with unexpected parameter "event-type" But, I went ahead and saved. Sorry for any confusion. Thanks! ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:16, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- That's WIR not WIG? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:17, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- @MSGJ My bad! I just saw the error in preview and assumed it was because of the new WIG template I was trying to add. Ignore me! :) ---Another Believer (Talk) 21:18, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
- Phew! The WIR template does have some issues but I'm hoping to fix those up shortly in a similiar way to how WIG works. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 21:21, 2 January 2024 (UTC)

Multiple meetups
[edit]Can this template be adjusted accommodate multiple meetups, like WIR does? Someone tried at Talk:Olga Taratuta but the page is being placed in Category:WikiProject templates with unknown parameters. Using the WIG template twice as a workaround will just put the page in another maintenance category, Pages using WikiProject banner shell with duplicate banner templates.— TAnthonyTalk 19:58, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- After the experience of coding {{WikiProject Women in Red}} I think I would prefer to switch the syntax to something like
|meetup4=yes
and|meetup5=yes
. I guess multiple meetups were never done on this template because its aim is to bring articles to Good Article status, and once that is done it will not need to be done again — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:09, 7 June 2024 (UTC)
