Inline

[edit]

@Pigsonthewing: Is there an inline version for use on articles that use them like Industry#External_links? Thanks. 130.88.141.34 (talk) 08:42, 25 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

(Only just seen this, sorry) There isn't. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:00, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed change

[edit]

I propose two changes:

  1. Changing "uses" link from "What links here" to "Wikidata SPARQL query result" which can provide to readers actual values of property.
  2. Adding "see talk" link as same as {{Uses Wikidata}}. Because, in Wikidata, useful links and information are basically located in talk page.

Followings are comparison of before and after the change. --Was a bee (talk) 00:52, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Currently this template has 3 link targets.

  1. Data page (d:Property:P40)
  2. Talk page (d:Property talk:P40)
  3. Usage result (uses)

Among these, the first one (data page) is mere data, not human readable format, or difficult to read. So how about change the template style (see the comparison table below).

Even within WikiData, talk pages are frequently used as property link targets. For example, see d:Wikidata:Country property navboxes. There are many navigation templates there, and most link targets are talk pages, not data pages. This is basically because WikiData talk pages have human readable summary of the property.

So I think "linking to talk page" is better than "linking to mere data page" for most viewers, including both WikiPedian and WikiDatian. --Was a bee (talk) 16:44, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Proposal of including multiple properties

[edit]

Currently this template can show only one property. So if there are multiple properties per one article, it is needed to use this template multiple times (for example, at Cardinality#See_also). So I propose adding functionality which enables including multiple properties, by using Module:Uses Wikidata. See comparison below.

If this change is implemented, I'll check and fix all transclusion cases of this template (currently roughly 300 pages[1]) --Was a bee (talk) 21:18, 15 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
