@BrownHairedGirl: You may want to give attention to this template. I stumbled across it after deleting some categories for Macau, see Wikipedia:Categories_for_discussion/Log/2019_February_23#Years_in_Macau. – Fayenatic London 23:57, 8 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Fayenatic, but from a quick check I don't see anything awry.
Have I missed something? --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 00:07, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Recent years look fine, e.g. 1999 in Macau, but there are red links to Decades categories in this template where it is transcluded at 1576 in Macau, 1622 in Macau and 1840 in Macau. – Fayenatic London 13:48, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Ah. Thanks, @Fayenatic.
I did this[1] edit to use {{LinkCatIfExists2}}. Does that look OK to you?
Yes, I think that even in un-clickable grey, showing the dates is probably better than "Decades: [blank]" as shown in {{Year in Macau}} on the same pages.
BTW, I don't like the duplicate header boxes on 1999 in Macau and 1576 in Macau. They should use one or the other, surely? The two boxes should really be merged. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 14:30, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. Probably best to display the name & flag for Portuguese Macau for years in the range 1557 to 1999. – Fayenatic London 20:50, 9 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
