The Blind (also known as The Blind: The True Story of the Robertson Family) is a 2023 American Christian biographical film directed by Andrew Hyatt, who co-wrote the screenplay with Stephanie Katz. The film details the life of Phil Robertson and his family from his early childhood until 1985.[3]

Production

The film was shot in Shreveport, Louisiana in early 2022.[4] Korie Robertson acted as a producer, while Willie Robertson was an executive producer.

Release

The film was released in theaters on September 28, 2023.[5]

Reception

Box Office

The film opened in 1,715 theaters and grossed $4.1 million in its opening weekend, coming in fifth place.[6] The film took first place on its opening day.[7]

Critical Response

Roger Moore of Movie Nation gave the film a rating of 1.5/4, saying, "Whatever potential it had, the film just isn’t very good, with or without fact checking."[8]

Mike McGranaghan of The Aisle Seat was more positive, giving the film a rating of 3/4. He said, "Phil Robertson’s fans will certainly gel to it. Viewers less familiar with the man may enjoy it too, as it offers insight into how and why he has struck a chord with millions of people."[9]
