The Nut Job 2 is an upcoming 2017 American-Canadian-Korean 3D computer-animated comedy film directed by Cal Brunker and written by Cal Brunker, Bob Barlen and Scott Bindley. It is the sequel to the 2014 film The Nut Job. The film stars Will Arnett, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, Katherine Heigl, Maya Rudolph, Jackie Chan, Bobby Moynihan, Bobby Cannavale and Peter Stormare. Produced by Gulfstream Pictures, Redrover International and ToonBox Entertainment, the film is scheduled to be released theatrically on May 19, 2017, by Open Road Films.

Plot

Surly (Will Arnett) and the park animals must band together to prevent Oakton City's crooked mayor (Bobby Moynihan) from bulldozing Liberty Park and replacing it with a dangerous amusement park.

Production

On January 23, 2014, The Nut Job 2 was announced with a theatrical release date of January 15, 2016.[12] On April 11, 2016, the release date was pushed back to May 19, 2017.[1] Will Arnett, Gabriel Iglesias, Jeff Dunham, Katherine Heigl and Maya Rudolph are confirmed to reprise their roles.[13] On May 25, 2016, Heitor Pereira was hired to score the film.[14] On July 5, 2016, Jackie Chan joined the cast as Mr. Feng.[2] Bobby Moynihan, Bobby Cannavale and Peter Stormare have also joined the cast.[3]
