Tom Rooney is a Republican member of the Illinois Senate, representing the 27th district since his September 2016 appointment to replace outgoing Senator Matt Murphy.[1][2] The 27th district includes parts of Arlington Heights, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Inverness, Palatine, Wheeling, Prospect Heights and South Barrington.[3] Prior to his appointment, he served as Mayor of Rolling Meadows succeeding Ken Nelson and as a member of the Rolling Meadows city council.[4] Tom Rooney also teaches U.S. History at West Leyden High School.
