Plot

Background

Sky News reported on 12 October 2021 that each soap had filmed scenes referencing climate change and that some characters would make cameo appearances in rival programmes. The idea was suggested by Jane Hudson, the Executive Producer of Emmerdale who described it as a "real treat for our audience, whilst also allowing us to get across a very important message."[1] The head of continuing drama for BBC Studios Kate Oates said "We're grateful to the teams that made this happen, and hugely look forward to seeing the talent from our own shows popping up in other iconic programmes."[1] Announcing the news on This Morning, Sharon Marshall described the news as "amazing" and said that it had taken "months and months" of planning.[2]
