Overview
[edit]Manu Jose is a Malayalam actor performing in theatre, television, and movies. He is also a storyteller, workshop facilitator, and an advocate of alternate education.
Theatre
[edit]Manu studied Theatre from School of Drama and Fine Arts, Thrissur. He has donned roles in over 70 theatre productions, and has worked with directors such as Maya Tangberg, B. V. Karanth, Kavalam Narayana Panicker, Jose Chiramel, S Ramanujam, and Indira Parthasarathy among others. He has also performed in radio plays. He set up 'Meandyou Performing Company' in 2002 for imparting knowledge via theatre[1]. By 2020 Manu and Meandyou had performed 500 live storytelling events across India and parts of West Asia[2]. In 2019, Manu Jose, along with Muralee Menon, played the lead role in 'Maratta Cafe', a Malayalam adaptation of Harold Pinter's play 'The Dumb Waiter'. Maratta Cafe was directed by renowned Malayalam movie director Ranjith[3][4].

Television
[edit]Manu anchored Chirakukal, Changathikkoottam, Kalichirineram, Dolphin Dolphin, and Gulf Beats on Asianet Channel, Oridathoridathu on Indiavision, and Mittaivandi on Kairali Channel[7].
Facilitation
[edit]Manu created Ala, a space for theatre and alternate education in Mulanthuruthy, Kerala. Ala's ASSET(Ala's Student Skill Enhancing Theatre) also trains teachers. Manu uses tools from theatre, his knowledge of Transactional analysis and NLP, etc. in his workshops. He has facilitated workshops for Kudumbasree of Kerala and Manipal University among others[8][9]. He also advocates for alternate educational approaches[10].
Other
[edit]Manu was the head of 'Art by Children'(ABC) project in Kochi-Muziris Biennale's 2016 edition. He was the brand ambassador for DC Books' children's books from 2005 to 2006. Through their programme 'Story on Wheels' he created awareness in school children about the importance of reading[11]. During the 2018 floods of Kerala, Manu collaborated with DC Books and local administrations to use storytelling, art, games and music to bring relief to children affected by the flood[12][13].

[edit]Manu is the recipient of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi's Kalasree award(2015)[14].
