Julie Vos (born February 15, 1958) is an American fashion jewelry designer and CEO of Julie Lindsey LLC, which owns the rights to a jewelry company in her name that launched in 2006 and manufactures semi-precious stone pendants, necklaces, earrings, bangles, bracelets and rings.[1] Her pieces have since appeared in Vogue, Marie Claire and Real Simple, among other women’s lifestyle publications. Vos is also listed under her married name, Lindsey, as founder of The Story Prize, a national book award.

Early Life and Education[edit]

Vos was born in Stamford, Connecticut to Mary Dempsey and Frank Vos. She is the youngest of three children, following brother George and the late Patricia Vos. As a child she attended the New Canaan Country School and later King Low-Heywood Thomas in Stamford, where she served as student council president and editor of the school’s literary journal. She then went on to finish college in three years, first at Wesleyan University and later at New York University. From there, Vos graduated in 1979 as an English major.

Career Beginnings[edit]

At 22, Vos managed publishing accounts retained by her father’s advertising agency, which led to a similar role in the book division of The Torstar Corporation. She later provided direct marketing services for TASTE, a newsletter distributed by the influential New York Times food critic, Mimi Sheraton. In 2004 Vos founded The Story Prize, an annual book award that each year rewards an author of short fiction stories with $20,000 cash.

Julie Vos: The Label[edit]

Vos founded Julie Lindsey LLC in 2006, and began selling jewelry she designed in homes, clubs and schools across the U.S. Since then, her pieces have featured in numerous lifestyle publications and Good Morning America, where they appeared on a shopper's guide in May 2014.[2]

Personal Life[edit]

Vos was married in Stamford, Connecticut in 1984. She and her husband currently reside in New York City and are parents to daughter Mary, born in 1989.
