Wikipedia:WikiProject Anime and manga/Hentai

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to the Hentai task force, a group of Wikipedia editors that aims to create, expand, improve, and standardize hentai and ecchi-related articles on Wikipedia. Our primary focus is on articles related to erotic depictions of anime and manga stylized works. To indicate that an article falls within the scope of this work group, please add "|hentai-task-force=" to {{WikiProject Anime and manga}}". For example, {{WikiProject Anime and manga|hentai-task-force=yes}}. You can also add this to the talk page of images, categories, and templates.

Scope

[edit]

The Hentai task force's scope includes all topics related to ecchi and hentai as defined by the broad English usage of the terms as applied to Japanese-styled anime and manga works including eroge and other doujinshi works. Why include ecchi? Hentai is not a genre in Japan, many ecchi works are described as hentai by English users. To make matters simple, this task force includes all sexually erotic depictions, perverted or otherwise, under our scope. This includes non-Japanese works that utilize the iconic art style regardless of origin. Also included in the scope is the persons, organizations, laws and fandom directly related to these works.

While the terms hentai and ecchi are broad in English usage, our scope is limited by the explicit nature of the works. Styles not likely to be confused as "manga" or "anime", such as Disney, Marvel Comics or DC Comics or "cartoon porn" such as Fritz the Cat are not covered. Our scope also does not include works with incidental or minor depictions of nudity or sexuality, such as Dragon Ball; those are covered by WP:ANIME.

Format and style

[edit]

The Hentai task force will not deviate or propose its own standards for WP:N; the criteria for inclusion can always be met with WP:GNG if it fails any to meet the requirement of the notability list. Editors pushing GNG require at least 3 sources covering the work in detail by reliable sources as per WP:RS

The task force endorses the Manual of Style changes and will not attempt to create it is own, the Manual of Style is complex body of detailed guidelines on proper format. Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Japan-related articles is an important subsection that should be utilized.

Layout should follow WP:ANIME's Page layout. Please note that MOS-AM does not supersede existing policy, nor are we to impose our own styles upon any other WikiProject per WP:OWN.

For naming, apply the same guidelines as Wikipedia page naming conventions:

  • Anime article – title (anime)
  • Manga article – title (manga)
  • Light novel article - title (novel)
  • Game article – title (game)
  • Visual novel article – title (visual novel)

Improvements

[edit]

Want to find an article to improve? The lists are in terrible shape and lack coverage, and lists are typically among the least useful forms of navigation on Wikipedia. This task force will not turn the tide, but more then 2000 related articles have yet to be created on notable publications! Whether you create a new article or stumble across an page, please categorize it, under the appropriate Category:Hentai categories.

Assessments

[edit]

Currently, there are no formal criteria for articles. There is also no known works in that are currently tagged with Good Article or Featured Article tags. For featured article candidates, all articles should be assessed with WP:MOS-JA compliance, ideally the nominator should announce this to the reviewers for verification. The criteria for meeting Good Article status is not affected, per policy, but is recommended.

Cleanup listing

[edit]

The project is now covered under CleanupWorklistBots cleanup listing at Labs Click here. As of June 2013, of the 227 articles in this project 133 or 59% are marked for cleanup, with 244 issues in total.
