The International Belgium Darts Tour is a cycle of tournaments in Belgium, organised by the International Belgium Darts Tour (IBDT).[1][2][3] The IBDT was established in 2011 by the Belgian Darts Association to take responsibility for the running and organisation of the four tournaments in Belgium that form the tour, which are the Antwerp Open, Belgium Open, Top of Ghent and Sun Parks Masters.[1][2][3] The tour is backed by the British Darts Organisation, who offer points towards their BDO world rankings.[3]
History[edit]
After the demise of the Dutch section of the International Darts Tour of the Lowlands, the Belgian Darts Association decided to set up their own tour, and were given backing by the British Darts Organisation.[3] The tour aswell as the tournaments provide more professional opportunities to Belgian Darts and its growing numbers of darts players – as well as the European players who wish to compete.[1][2] The BDO offer points towards their invitational rankings based on performances.[3]
A ranking table is also featured based on performances at the four events, with the top thirty-two men and eight women after the final standings qualifying for a new tournament, early in to the following year.[1][2][3] The prize fund for the first edition of this tournament was 10,000 euros.[1][2] The winners of this event qualify for the World Masters and international play-off for the BDO World Championship.[1][2] The IBDT ranking period runs from January 1st to December 31st.[4]
