As a kid he had always dreamed of growing up to be a rodeo cowboy and riding in tournaments around the world, while throwing in fat lips (see Dipping). At the age of six he entered his first junior rodeo, dominating the compitition, and placing first in front of all the other riders. His talent for riding was discovered by a talent scout and he quickly moved up the ladder to professional riding at the tender age of eight. Despite only being eight years old in his first professional rodeo, he had the poise of a 28 year old, and again medaled by coming in second place. He was disappointed in his second place finish and thus decided to begin his career as a professional binge drinker. He had wild success and can hardly remember age 9.

As a first baseman for the Geneva High School Panthers he batted .227 but broke the homerun record (84) and hit by pitch record (23). During each of the four fall semesters, Dallas played local arena football for the Black Barnstormers out of Black, Alabama. He was an all-state athlete in both baseball and arena football but gave up football to continue his career as a college baseball player.
Amateur Draft/ College At the 2007 amateur draft, without representation, Dallas Buck refused an offer from the Braves of $100,000 in the 12th round to spend a year at college. After refusing to sign a contract with the Braves, Dallas spent one year at George Wallace Community College. He was 11-2 with a 1.92 era, while striking out 135 hitters. He was national JuCo pitcher of the year and was redrafted by the Braves in the 2008 amateur draft in the first complementary round. He signed a $2.2 million contract and skipped rookie ball to play Double A for the Mississippi Braves.
Minor League Career Dallas Buck began his minor league career with the Atlanta Braves organization, playing for the Mississppi Braves in Double A. His next year was spent at the Triple A level with the Richmond Braves. After a shaky sophmore season in Richmond, Dallas was demoted back to Mississippi, where he was a stand out in the starting rotation. His continued success at the Triple A level allowed him to be promoted up to Major League Baseball.
