Dave Chew is a Christian Evangelist, Motivational Speaker, and Autism Rights Activist. He was diagnosed with Autism in 2003. He is most notably known for his testimony on YouTube where he shares how God gave him a new heart On February 6th, 2015. His testimony as of October 2018 has reached over 2,700 people worldwide.
Early Life & Ministry[edit]
Chew first gave his life to Christ in 1997, but his faith started to fade in Jr. High School. In December 2009, He recommitted his life to Christ at a Winter Retreat.
After graduating from college with a certificate in Graphic Arts, He served as a Tech and Media Associate and later as Media Arts Director at a Church in San Leandro, CA. He resigned on June 11th, 2017. He is currently a member of NorthCreek Church in Walnut Creek, CA.

Theological Views[edit]
Chew came from a Baptist background. He was a Charismatic Calvinist from 2014-2018. After leaving the Charismatic Calvinist Movement, he returned to his roots as a Leaky Dispensationalist and holds to Traditional Calvinism. However, he continues to keep in fellowship with other believers regardless if they are Calvinists or Arminians. He affirms the 5 Solas of the Reformation and holds that a literal interpretation of scripture is proper as opposed to allegorical or spiritual.
Political Stances[edit]
Chew is highly against abortion. He is a strong supporter of Autism Rights and continues to stand up for what he believes in regardless of how anyone responds.
Escatology[edit]
Chew is a Premillennialist. Prior to that, he was a Postmillennialist. He changed his views after his departure from Charismatic Calvinism. He opposes Amillennialism.
Spiritual Gifts[edit]
Even though Chew has friends in the Charismatic Movement and is encouraged by their heart for Jesus, he holds to the doctrine of cessation. While he believes that God does give people spiritual gifts, he believes that speaking in tongues, the gift of miraculously healing others, and modern-day prophesy are gifts that have ceased. He also does not believe that there are true prophets or apostles in existence today. "There are false ones, Unfortunately. But not true ones, those are all a thing of the past." He adds.
Views on the Spiritual Formation Movement[edit]
Chew is highly critical of the Spiritual Formation Movement. Chew described his experience with the movement by sharing how a small group, at a church he attended, exposed him to the teachings of Dallas Willard, John Ortberg, among others. In his Facebook LIVE Broadcast "A Fox in the Henhouse", Chew described the Spiritual Formation Movement as an Aspie's Worst Nightmare. Since then, he believes that Spiritual Formation is heresy.
Transition out of the Charismatic Calvinist Movement[edit]
Chew left the Charismatic Calvinist Movement due to issues of spiritual manipulation and doctrinal differences. In his Facebook live broadcast called "The Tongues Twister", he shared his story on how he left the movement. He also shared that combining reformed theology with charismatic theology is confusing and oxymoronic. He concluded that Charismatic Calvinism is unbiblical. "You can't combine reformed theology with charismatic theology. It just doesn't add up."

He is a strong supporter of the The Gospel Coalition, Ligonier Ministries, Together for the Gospel, Grace To You, and the 9 Marks Ministry from Mark Dever.
While he disagrees with the Charismatic Calvinist Movement, Roman Catholicism, and Eastern Orthodoxy, he is open to having a dialogue with members while holding to his beliefs.
In addition to being a strong opponent of the Spiritual Formation Movement, He also opposes Social Justice movements, the King James Only Movement, and Mormonism.
Influences[edit]
Chew has been encouraged and influenced by several evangelists, pastors and theologians. Some of them include Dennis Jernigan, Rich Mullins, Joni Eareckson Tada, Nick Vujicic, D. James Kennedy, R.C. Sproul, Corrie Ten Boom, John MacArthur, and many others.
Involvement in Celebrate Recovery[edit]
In January 2015, Chew started attending Celebrate Recovery meetings offered at the church where he served as media arts director.
He said it was during that time where he was able to reevaluate where his walk with God was going subsequent to several incidents in his past.
After going through his first year, surrendering his life fully to God, new relationships began to flourish, old relationships have been restored and there has been an enormous amount of healing in the process.
Chew received his one year chip in December 2015 and served as a co-leader for the Men's open share group for The River's Celebrate Recovery in 2016. He later attended and served at a Celebrate Recovery group closer to his home in the Tri-Valley in 2017. In August of 2023, Chew announced that he will be stepping down from Celebrate Recovery after 8 years with the ministry at the end of the year. He will be teaching his last lesson with the ministry in December.

On September 23rd, 2016, Dave made his triumphant return to YouTube with a new vlog, "Chew Made New". Unlike his old vlog, Chew on This TV, there is no teaching. Instead, Dave invites people into his world with him and his friends whether it's hanging out or special occasions.

GCAAM - The Gospel-Centered Autism Awareness Movement[edit]
In April of 2018, Chew founded the Gospel-Centered Autism Awareness Movement (GCAAM) as the overall umbrella of his ministry. There is also a church network to help families and individuals struggling with Asperger’s Syndrome find healthy church families that will welcome them in.
As of June 2020, there are 20 churches recommended by GCAAM Network.
