Prof. Dong-Qing Wei is a professor in the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.[1][2]

Education[edit]

Prof Wei attended University of Puerto Rico, and received his Ph.D. in chemical physics from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, USA in 1987.

Research and Career[edit]

He joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Feb 2006. Prior to that, he had held a position as permanent staff member at the City of Tianjin at Tianjin Normal University Tianjin Institute of Bioinformatics and Drug Discoverie and served on the faculty at the Montreal, Quebec, and the President of Montreal Institute of Technology. He is a fellow of Network of Centers of Excellence in Molecular and Interfacial Dynamics (University of British Columbia, Vancouver, B.C., Canada).

Prof Wei has been developing algorithms and software for analyzing DNA and Protein sequences and related types of data from molecular Biology. He is one of the authors of WeiDOCK. He also develops methods for drug indentification through machine learning. Prof. Wei has made important contributions to the analysis of many proteomics data. He is regarded as one of the pioneers in the field of computational biology.
