Vinay Gupta (born January 23, 1973) is a travel entrepreneur and co-founder of online travel company TripFactory. Previously, he has also co-founded omni channel travel booking portal Via.com (formerly FlightRaja.com). Vinay Gupta was the CEO at Via.com from 2005 to 2012. He then took over as Chairman of the company[1] and currently serves as a board member at Via.com and as the Chairman at TripFactory.

Biography

Vinay Gupta had been associated with leading Wall Street firms and multinational companies Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, Citibank, Merrill Lynch and BMW, in senior capacities.

In 2006, Vinay and Amit Aggarwal founded Via.com, a dominant pan-Asian travel brand with more than 1000,000 partners across 2,600 towns and cities globally.[2] Via, which turned profitable in 2007[3], received a funding of 5 million USD from NEA IndoUS ventures in 2007 and 10 million USD from Sequoia capital in 2010.[4] Via.com was acquired by Ebix in 2017.[5]

In 2013, Vinay Gupta launched his new travel venture TripFactory.com, a customised holiday package provider and search engine designed exclusively for travellers. He raised USD 10 million funding from Aarin Capital Partners. [6]

Vinay was a speaker at a startup grind event held in Bangalore.[7]

Education

Vinay Gupta attended school at St. Edwards School, Shimla and Kendriya Vidyala. He holds a bachelors degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Sri Venkateswara University. He is currently pursuing CFA from the CFA Institute, where he is a member.
