Elfland is a high fantasy novel by English author Freda Warrington.[1] It is the winner of the Romantic Times Reviewers' Choice Award for Best Novel of 2009, and the first of a growing series (though some of the species unique to the universe can be found in other works written by Warrington).[2] It is her first book, according to the inside jacket cover, to be published in the United States. [3]

Plot[edit]

Elfland tells the story of Rosie Fox and her elite community in the Charnwood Forest of Leicester. She is an Aetherial, descended from an ancient race known as Aelyr, or, alternately, Estalyr. It centers around a ritual in midsummer known as the Night of Summer Stars, when the earth dwelling Aetherials celebrate their heritage and return to the Elfland to rediscover their true fae natures.

When the Gatekeeper, Lawrence Wilder, locks the passage into the Otherworld, the Aetherials across the entire earth are effectively trapped away from Elfland and its magics, both healing and destructive. Eventually Rosie must find a way into the Otherworld to save all those whom she loves.
