FreeSentral

FreeSentral is an IP PBX system developed to extend VoIP utilization in a web-based application.

FreeSentral consists of a web interface created in PHP, a database in PostgreSQL and an Yate server.

Its purpose is to provide VoIP services for private organizations, companies and more.

Features

[edit]

The PBX-based system has functionalities such as Auto attendant, direct inward dialing(DIDs), Extensions, Outbound(when adding a gateway, connecting to another FreeSentral system or PBX).

Besides the common functions, some additional IP PBX functions are included: dial plans, music on hold, short dialing, call fowarding, voice mail.

The DIDs function can be actived for groups not only VoIP users.

Security access is implemented : admins and common users.

Yate server makes use of SIP, H323 and IAX protocols and the admin will choose the suitable protocol when adding an extension.

In the future FreeSentral will be able to support drivers like Sangoma.

Usage and configuration

[edit]

Through the web interface the user can handle some special configurations(one of its advanced characteristics).

Call center companies could benefit from the functionalities of FreeSentral.

If the distribution is not a Linux distribution, you can install it on the same machine or use different servers(for better performance capabilites). For instance, the user has an Yate server, the web interface on a web server and the database on another server.

The common VoIP phone operator has limited rights to modify the settings of his/her account. Only the administrator has access to the Extensions section. From here, he/she can handle(add or modify) extensions for VoIP telephones. When logged as admin, the Home page has links to adding a gateway, extensions, DIDs, a dial plan, writing a new address in the New Address Book Entry section and to the Auto attendant page.

First-time users should try to configure FreeSentral with the wizard section.
