The Popular Educator, published weekly, is a series of hundreds of essays in 10 volumes – The Popular Educator Library – designed to provide the essence of a college education for those who were not able to attend college. The publication ran from March 1938 to November 1942.

• Stanton's Popular Educator and World's Home Instructor, published by the National Publishing Company of Philadelphia. The name, "Stanton", is a reference to the C.W. Stanton Company of Chicago, a manufacturer and seller of subscription books. The firm was incorporated 1895 by (i) Calvin William Stanton (1862–1926), (ii) Sally S. Murphy, and (iii) Mary F. Bell. National Publishing Company was operated by Joshua Riley "Bible" Jones (1837–1913) and David Zophar Howell (1871–1924). Howell, by way of his wife, Maude Talmage Jones (maiden), was a son-in-law of Joshua R. Jones.

The publisher, beginning 1884, was R.S. Peale & Company of Chicago – Richard S. Peale (1851–1919), founder. Peale, as early as 1875, had been a book club publisher. The Home Library Association (HLA), Chicago, was the book club for acquiring published works of R.S. Peale. HLA was incorporated December 30, 1884. R.S. Peale & Company was acquired in 1892 by The Werner Company. The incorporators were (i) Paul Edward Werner (1850–1931), (ii) Richard S. Peale, (iii) Alexander Beaty Belford (1854–1906), (iv) Daniel H. Kochersperger (1851–1907), and (v) Julius Turner Edson (1857–1946).
