Le Roy Jr./Sr. High School is a public school located in Le Roy, New York. It serves grades 7 through 12, with students from the village and town of Le Roy, and the town of Stafford in Genesee County. It is preceded by the Wolcott Street Elementary School located in Le Roy, New York. The current LeRoy Jr. /Sr. High School was built in 2002-03 and was used for the first time for the 2003-2004 school year.

The school offers a character education program that focuses on developing vital character traits and is a program that supports all of the students in the school. The program is referred to as P.R.I.D.E., which is an acronym for Perseverance, Responsibility, Involvement, Diversity, and Empathy.

Le Roy’s athletic teams are known as the LeRoy Oatkan Knights. It is one of the nation's top 100 schools in music education. Le Roy has several music classes and extracurricular activities available for students, a Competitive Marching Band and produces a yearly musical. The school is a part of the 5th annual College Board AP Honor Roll. The student to teacher ratio is 11:1.

Advanced Placement Classes

LeRoy offers 8 AP Courses in English, mathematics, social studies, and science. The classes offered are AP English Literature & Composition, AP English Language & Composition, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Calculus, AP United States History, AP World History, and AP United States Government and Politics.

Students must obtain a score of 3 or higher on the Advanced Placement exam in order to be eligible for college credit. However, most colleges require at least a 4 to reward college credit.

Le Roy/Cal-Mum Rivalry

The Le Roy and Caledonia-Mumford rivalry dates all the way back to 1900. The two small towns’ populations combined don’t even exceed 10,000 people, but the 9,800 that inhabit them can all testify that the rivalry is as strong as ever. Slogans have been created by both towns such as: “Destroy Le Roy!” to express the emotions that run high during game time. Every sports team in both schools looks forward to the day when they can face off against their well-known opponent. Although the rivalry exists in all the sports competed, it is the most heated in football. Everybody looks forward to that one night in the fall when the two small schools battle on the field. The winning team earns their community bragging rights and the privilege to hold their head high with pride. The losers must accept the defeat and wait for next fall, promising themselves to defeat their opponents next time.


Every year since 1965 Le Roy and Cal-Mum have faced each other in football. This year will be the 50th year that the schools have played each other, and throughout the 50 years the rivalry has just grown stronger and stronger. This year (2015), in the spring, Le Roy and Caledonia-Mumford were voted the best high school rivalry around town on Rochester Rocs. The towns won the vote by more than 76%; this just proves how well-known and powerful the rivalry really is.

This page was initiated this year as a final project for the AP Language class which was made up of: Ethan Cifelli, Nick Egeling, Jamie Englerth, Carly Fee, Bri Hill, Danielle Lauricella, Amy Lowe, Jordan Mangefrida, Colin Marrett, Mike McQuillan, Mary Purdy, Nick Richardson, Hannah Rosicka, Katelyn Samis, Cameron Slaven, Kathleen Smith, Ali Uberty, April Whiting, and Ethan Witkowski. It is in its infancy here and the Language classes in future years will update and expand it. Thanks to those who helped get it started and to Principal McArdle for being its progenitor.
