Information icon Thank you for contributing to the article Arthritis. However, please do not use unreliable sources such as blogs, your own website, websites and publications with a poor reputation for checking the facts or with no editorial oversight, expressing views that are widely acknowledged as extremist, that are promotional in nature, or that rely heavily on rumors and personal opinions, as one of Wikipedia's core policies is that contributions must be verifiable through reliable sources, preferably using inline citations. If you require further assistance, please look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia, or ask at the Teahouse. Thank you. OhNoitsJamie Talk 02:31, 13 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

hi jamie,
i didnt include a blog, my own website or an extremist website, or a promotional website or one that heavily relies on rumors and personal opinions. I'm not really sure what qualifies the website i used as unreliable, but i still do think that adding the part about cracking your knuckles not being a risk factor is important information for the article. how can i find a more reliable source about Dr. Donald Unger's research on cracking knuckles and the link to arthritis?
Thanks,
Z InfiniteSword (talk) 02:12, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A letter to the editor with a light-hearted reply certainly doesn't meet WP:MEDRS guidelines; the letter said nothing about "further research is needed," making that sentences a violation of WP:SYNTH. Please review those policy links. OhNoitsJamie Talk 03:43, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
also can i ask you some other questions about wikipedia because i am overwhelmed and dont really know where i can ask questions that i will receive a timely response to.
when will my name change from the current light orange to the blue that everyone else has?
how can i view my total impact? on my special homepage i can see some of the articles that i've contributed to and the views they have, but it's limited to 5 articles. plus, my contribution to chaebols is seemingly gone even though i contributed to the article.
Thank you jamie InfiniteSword (talk) 02:16, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
i see that on the chaebols page you reverted all the changes i made, which is justified for the sourced example i removed. however, i also did make some grammatical changes on that page that didn't remove any links or sources whatsoever, and it did take a long time to do. can we revert back to the old version where i put in grammatical fixes but add in the sourced exampl about the financial clique. InfiniteSword (talk) 02:21, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you can restore the grammatical changes to chaebols; my objection was to the removal of well-sourced material. OhNoitsJamie Talk 03:43, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - you asked when will my name change from the current light orange to the blue that everyone else has? You can make that happen yourself. All you need to do is follow this link to your user page - User:InfiniteSword - type something into the editing window and "publish" it. See here for a lot of information about various types of user pages. 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:03, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

National varieties of English[edit]

Information icon Hello. In a recent edit to the page Chaebol, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the original author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. —Wasell(T) 🌻 11:56, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

so if an article is already in British ENglish, i should keep it that way instead of changing alternative speellings if its an international article? InfiniteSword (talk) 00:58, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, unless it's clearly in an inappropriate variety: for example, if an article about George Armstrong Custer's horse was written in Australian English. See WP:ENGVAR within the Manual of Style that Wasell linked above for full details on these guidelines.
Of course, It's unlikely that you would be able successfully to change an existing variety to any but your own. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 90.199.169.177 (talk) 05:20, 16 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So should I have kept the article in British English? Because the article isn't about the United Kingdom, but it is in Europe.
OR do I just keep it in BE because the original author used BE? InfiniteSword (talk) 17:18, 10 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
