Gültekin Tırpancı (b. 1954, Sakarya), is a Turkish politican serving as the leader of the Liberal Democrat Party since 29 January 2017.

Life and career[edit]

He was born in Sakarya on 1954. He has completed his primary education at Mustafa Kemalpaşa Primary School. Then he has graduated from Ali Dilmen High School and has completed his higher education at Istanbul University Faculty of Forestry.^[1]

In the 2011 general elections, he was nominated as an MP candidate for Sakarya by the Liberal Democrat Party (LDP) but was not elected. On March 30, 2014, he was nominated as LDP candidate for the mayorship of Sakarya Metropolitan Municipality in the local elections. Tırpancı rose to the position of deputy chairman within the LDP. When Cem Toker, the chairman of the LDP at the time, had to resign, Tırpancı was elected as the chairman of the Liberal Democrat Party at the 8th Ordinary Congress.^[2]
