Upper Hopton is a small village within the town of Mirfield, in West Yorkshire, England. It is located
The population of Upper Hopton is reported as a percentage of Mirfield and was estimated at around 1000, or 6% of the Mirfield population in 2001.[1]
The village is about a mile from Mirfield railway station and is served by a Yorkshire Tiger run bus between Huddersfield and Dewsbury.
Upper Hopton Community Association
[edit]As Upper Hopton is part of Mirfield, it does not have it's own council. However, it does have a group that meet in Croft House once a month. The Upper Hopton Community Association was formed in the 1980s[2] and can be joined by any resident of the village. The group organise various events in the village, discuss improvements that can be made to the area and look after the general upkeep of Upper Hopton. They are also strongly linked to Upper Hopton In Bloom, a horticultural competition which often competes with other towns in Yorkshire.
Education
[edit]Upper Hopton no longer has a school and is served by the education services in Mirfield. It does have it's own daily preschool which is located at Croft House.
