From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Talend is an open source data integration software vendor which produces several data integration and data quality products, including Talend Open Studio.

Talend's products support various enterprise-wide data integration and data quality needs such as data warehousing, business intelligence, data migration, data synchronization, data consolidation, operational data integration, data profiling, data cleansing, and master data management.

History[edit]

Talend was founded in 2005 by Bertrand Diard and Fabrice Bonan. It was at the time the first commercial open source vendor[1] of open source data integration. Other vendors have since entered this market, including Apatar, Jitterbit, Pentaho, and SnapLogic. Non open source data integration vendors include Ab Initio, expressor, IBM, Informatica, and SAP.

Talend's first product, Talend Open Studio, was launched in October 2006[2][3]. In January 2008, it had been downloaded over 1 million times. In July 2009, the product totaled 5 million downloads[4] and over 300,000 users.

Talend is backed by three venture capital firms. The first two rounds of funding were provided by AGF Private Equity and Galileo Partners. In January 2009, Bernard Liautaud, the founder of Business Objects, led a $12 million round C[5][6] for his firm Balderton Capital.
