Ben de Lisi is an American born fashion designer based in London. He is best known for his work as on the television series, Project Catwalk and his collections with Debenhams.
Early life
Ben de Lisi was born in New York.[2] de Lisi studied sculpture and painting at the Pratt Institute of Art in Brooklyn, he then painted fabric for a young American designer and learned how to sew, design and create clothes.[3] de Lisi moved to London in 1982.[3]
Career
de Lisi has designed for many celebrities including actress Kate Winslet, who wore a red dress created by de Lisi to the 2002 Academy Awards.
de Lisi acted as a mentor to designers for three seasons of the Sky television series Project Catwalk.
In May 2009, de Lisi announced that was to close his womenswear label and his London store, but would continue his Designers at Debenhams high street collection.[4]
In February 2010 it was announced that Debenhams had signed up de Lisi to relaunch Principles, 126 Principles by Ben de Lisi stores will open in Debenhams department stores.[5]
Personal life
de Lisi lives in a two-storey cottage in Battersea. He owns three French bulldogs; Luca, Noah and Téa.[6]
