Masayoshi Kimura

Masayoshi Kimura (1 January 1890 - 28 September 1952) was a Japanese bureaucrat and politician. He was a member of the House of Representatives, the Governor of Kagawa Prefecture, and also the State Minister of Finance.

Early life and education

Born in Tokyo, he graduated from the Department of Law (Dokuho) of the University of Tokyo (then Tokyo Imperial University) in 1915. Entered the public sector, serving as head of Kuze-gun, Kyoto Prefecture; secretary to the Minister of Education; director-general of the Student Affairs Department of the Ministry of Education; and director-general of the Bureau of Industrial and Academic Affairs of the Ministry of Education.

In February 1932, he ran for and won the 18th general election for the House of Representatives from the Rikken Seiyu-kai in the 1st district of Kumamoto Prefecture. Thereafter, he was elected four times in succession until the 19th, 20th and 21st general elections in 1942 (as a candidate for the Wing Patronage Political System Council). During this period, he served as the Rikken Seiyuukai's general secretary, the first Konoe Cabinet's home affairs councillor, and the Yonai Cabinet's State Minister of Finance.

Appointed Governor of Kagawa Prefecture in April 1945; also served as Shikoku District Commissioner from 10 June 1945 until 31 October 1945. After the war, he was exiled from public office by SCAP; his exile was lifted in 1951. He died the following year, 1952.
