RxWiki is a digital medication encyclopedia constructed and edited by pharmacists.[1][2][3][4][5][6] The digital pharmacist network encourages patients and consumers to make informed medication decisions and strictly follow medication instructions.[1][2][7] RxWiki provides up-to-date information and news concerning prescription, over-the-counter, and natural medications.[1][2][4][6] RxWiki also provides information and videos concerning symptoms of illnesses and medical conditions.[6] RxWiki can be accessed online, by mobile application, and on social media sites: Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Pinterest.[8][2][3][4][7][9]

Overview

In August 2007, Donald Hackett CEO and Lou Scalpati launched RxWiki in association with NCPA (National Community Pharmacists Association) and APhA (American Public Health Association).[6][8][10] In 2009, Hackett and Scalpati formed a separate entity, RxWiki, as a public medical encyclopedia and began preparations to launch a website and mobile app.[7][6] In February 2013 RxWiki launched the beta version of RxWiki and in March they launched the medical encyclopedia on social-networking site, Pinterest.[6][11] In April 2013, RxWiki released of RxWiki Mobile+, a mobile application that allows patients to communicate with their pharmacists and access the RxWiki encyclopedia.[2][8] RxWiki is a wholly owned subsidiary of Patient Conversation Media head-quartered in Austin, TX.[11]
